About the Golfer

Hello!  My name is Julie and I am creating this blog to learn more about golf.  It's funny really how surrounded my life is by golf but how little interest I've had in it until now.  Growing up both of my brothers played golf, took lessons and enjoyed playing on the golf team in high school.  My dad always pushed me to join in the fun but I looked at golf as how do I say it lightly... boring.  My dad built three different golf courses and served as the manager and superintendent of one for over 12 years.  He currently just built a mini par three, three hole course for an estate and thoroughly enjoyed designing it with his ideas.  I along with both of my brothers worked at his previous golf course every summer.  I started off low on the totem pole as a cart attendant where I had the magnificent job of cleaning up disgusting beer cans, cigarette and cigar butts, empty chip bags and mud off of the carts.  Now I'm thinking this may have been where I decided I had no interest in the game.  I then moved up to a bag attendant and when I finally turned 21 I got to be your typical blonde haired, blue eyed bubbly beer cart girl.  I surprisingly learned the most about the game through this job because I spoke more regularly with golfers throughout their round of golf and was moving about on the course.  I still at this point had never stepped on a course or range to attempt to learn myself though.  A little over a year ago, I started dating a wonderful guy named Alex.  Of course as nature would have it Alex is obsessed with golf.

Here's a picture of Alex concentrating on his swing.

I've decided it's about time that I finally take the plunge and follow through on learning how to play so I can at least hold my own with him.  Thank goodness he is more patient than my father.  He is a good teacher too! That makes it more easy for me to enjoy this first, frustrating step of whiffing.
